What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s first national scheme that directly provides funds to individuals with a disability. It is a comprehensive system that uses a lifetime approach to enable people to live a quality life and get involved in their community and workplace.
There are around 4.3 million Australians who have a disability. Through NDIS, the government supports these people who might have intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive or psychological disabilities.

Help with day-to-day activities
You can choose assistance with day-to-day activities. Our experienced staff will help you with personal care and household and daily-life activities. Based on your needs and requirements, Help Finder will send suitable nurses who can help you with:

Community Nursing Care
Community nursing care aims to support your independence and lifestyle in a safe and familiar environment. If you need expert help at home, you can look at getting this home-based assistance. Under this service, you or your carer can get training from our specialist nurses to feel more assured and live an independent life.
Plan Management
If you don’t want to take the stress of self-managing fundings in your NDIS plan, then Help Finder, can connect you to a nominated plan manager, can take over the responsibility. Under plan management service, plan managers will pay for your support, get NDIS plan budget reports and greater budget oversight. Along the way you will even get to increase your financial and plan management skills.
Find out if you are eligible for the NDIS
You need to be eligible to become a NDIS participant. You can access the scheme if:
- You are under 65 years of age
- You are an Australian citizen, a permanent visa holder or you live in Australia
- You have a permanent and significant disability
- You use special equipment because of your disability and require essential support

Supports funded by NDIS
Every person with a disability has different needs. The NDIS provides funding to participants based on these individual needs so that they can meet their goals and live a more comfortable life. The scheme will fund eligible NDIS participants for supports and services that:
- Are reasonable and necessary – something that is fair and a person needs
- Are related to participant’s disability
- Represent value for money
- Are likely to be effective and beneficial to the participant
- Works well with any help or support the participant gets from other people or places, like family and friends
